HisTroy is an unusual docu-drama that blends past and present to explore how Homer’s epic poetry affected not only the public imagination, but the expectations of the archaeologists and thus the actual excavations conducted to unearth the ancient city of Troy. Fictional re-enactments in which Homer and the historical characters that populated his legendary Troy  appear in nostalgic black-and-white cinematic sequences provide an element of absurdity that offset the more scholarly interviews with members of the current Troy excavation team who aim to help us understand the truths presented by archaeological reality.
