For the workers at the Bünsa Döküm foundry in Kayseri, the heaps of scrap metal that surround them are an ordinary part of life – but for artists, they are a source of inspiration. A Story of Transformation traces the journey of creativity, labor and sustainable living, going beyond the notion of recycling to explore how material and meaning are reborn. Oscillating between the harsh mechanical reality of heavy industry and the poetry of the sculpture-making process, the film documents the industrial production process while opening the door to a broader social and ecological discussion of sustainability, recycling, and the power of art to touch everyday lives.

Ceyhun Bağcı & Mehmet Köprü
Ceyhun Bağcı supports his academic research in digital media and cinema through documentary film projects. He takes on various creative roles in film production, including directing, cinematography, and editing.

Mehmet Köprü is primarily engaged in academic studies on cinema, but he continues to stay connected to film practice by participating in various fiction and documentary projects. Their film A Story of Transformation was an official selection of the ICJ International Film Awards in Ukraine and has screened at numerous festivals in Turkey, receiving the award for  the Best Short Documentary Film by the Istanbul International Spring Film Festival in April 2026.
